How money moves on NaijaBook

No fine print buried in a footnote—the model is community advertising and fair pools, not selling your private chats.

Advertisers pay NaijaBook

Businesses buy sponsored posts, space placements, and campaigns. Spend is priced for quality attention inside real communities—not empty impressions.

Platform & creators share the pool

NaijaBook retains a share for servers, safety, and product. The rest flows into eligibility-based pools for spaces and creators who meet published rules—before payouts go live, numbers in the app are illustrative.

You get paid when rules are met

Bank & mobile-money payouts are on the roadmap. Early members help define fair thresholds so the first withdrawal wave feels honest, not gimmicky.

Exact revenue splits and policies will be published before paid withdrawals ship. Questions? Contact the team, see Advertise for how brand spend works, and read the full Monetisation & FAQ page on this site.

Reconnect with old friends, family, alumni, and hometown circles

Family reunion

Private threads, shared media, and spaces that feel like home.

Alumni reunion

Year groups, schools, and professional networks in one rhythm.

Hometown network

Local news, events, and people who remember the same streets.

Diaspora connection

Bridge Lagos, London, and beyond without losing the Naija pulse.

Questions, answered

Straight answers on money, ads, and what's live vs coming soon—like we'd run a serious product workshop.

How does NaijaBook make money?
Brands and businesses pay for advertising and sponsored placements in feeds and spaces. Over time, premium tools (optional boosts, business profiles, and similar add-ons) can add another revenue line. The exact rate card is refined as we scale—early partners get guided pricing.
How do creators and space owners get paid?
Qualified activity inside spaces that carry ads can participate in revenue-sharing pools under clear platform rules. We are wiring Stripe Connect so eligible people can add a payout account (bank details via Stripe). Until transfers are fully automated, the earnings dashboard may still show illustrative numbers—for detail see our Monetisation & FAQ page.
What share does the platform keep?
A portion of advertiser spend covers infrastructure, trust & safety, moderation, payments, and product development. The remainder funds creator/space pools and incentives. Final splits will be published on the Monetisation & FAQ page before paid payouts ship.
Is this the same as Facebook ads?
No. NaijaBook is spaces-first: ads are meant to sit beside conversations people already trust, not random noise. Formats favour sponsored posts, space partnerships, and local campaigns—not only generic display banners.
When can I withdraw real money?
Withdrawals are planned for a later milestone once identity, tax, and compliance checks are in place. Joining now helps shape fair rules with early communities.
Who can advertise?
Registered businesses and verified partners. We screen categories that don’t fit community standards. Use the Advertise and Contact pages to talk to the team.
Is NaijaBook only for Nigeria?
Nigeria-first by culture and positioning, but reunion and diaspora are core—anyone who fits the community can participate where the product is available.
What are Naija, Africa, and Global spaces?
Spaces are tagged by reach: Naija-first communities, pan-African rooms, and intentionally global topics. You can filter by reach on Spaces and Discover so the big tent stays visible without losing local trust.
Which currency is the marketplace in?
Sellers choose from supported currencies; amounts are stored precisely in minor units (e.g. kobo, cents). Your profile country helps suggest a default—you are not locked to any one currency.
How do brands pay to advertise?
They pay NaijaBook—typically by card or invoice through our payments stack (Stripe), or via insertion orders for larger partners. Money lands in the platform account; a published share funds creators and spaces after fees. Models and checklists are on the Monetisation & FAQ page.
Where is the full written spec?
The full public write-up is on this site: Monetisation & FAQ. The landing FAQ above stays short; that page is updated as the product evolves.
