NaijaBook on a phone: community feed with people, chat, likes, and earnings
Philosophy

Why NaijaBook

Built for belonging and opportunity — not generic endless scrolling.

  • Better structured than a one-size feed—spaces keep conversations purposeful, with optional titles, topics, and polls when the room fits.
  • Stronger community focus with discovery that respects culture and context.
  • Monetisation is real: Community Dividend from net ad spend for Builders who grow the network—not paying people just to scroll.
  • Nigeria-first, global-ready—diaspora, hometown, and reunion woven in.

Not another endless feed

Spaces-first layout, reunion DNA, and earnings tied to real participation — not passive doomscrolling.

Monetisation with context

Ads and sponsorships sit where communities already trust the conversation — not random display noise.

Popular spaces

Faith, headlines, careers, tech, culture and sport, dating—and family ties—all in structured rooms, not one noisy feed.

Monetisation

Members can earn — here is how

Not pay-per-scroll. Grow the community, hit Builder, and share a published slice of real ad revenue.

Monetisation

Path to the Community Dividend

NaijaBook pays members from real ad spend — not for scrolling. Follow these steps to become eligible and cash out.

  1. Join and confirm your email

Create an account and verify the address you signed up with.

  2. Earn points — especially qualified invites

Post, engage, and invite people who stay active for 7 days. Points are not cash.

  3. Reach Builder tier

Default unlock: about 500 points and 5 qualified invites, with your account in good standing.

  4. Share the Community Dividend

Builders+ share ~10% of net ad revenue in the same currency brands spent (GBP or NGN). No ads spending means no pool — the min-to-withdraw figure is only a threshold.

  5. Verify identity, then request payout

Upload an official photo ID, meet the minimum eligible balance after the hold, then request on Monetisation. Staff verify before money is sent.

Questions, answered

Straight answers on money, ads, in-app features, and what's live vs coming soon—like we'd run a serious product workshop.

How does NaijaBook make money?
Brands and businesses pay for advertising and sponsored placements in feeds and spaces. Over time, premium tools (optional boosts, business profiles, and similar add-ons) can add another revenue line. The exact rate card is refined as we scale—early partners get guided pricing.
How do creators and space owners get paid?
Through the Community Dividend: earn points (especially qualified invites), reach Builder tier, then share ~10% of net ad revenue. Confirm email, upload an official photo ID, and request payout on Earnings. Step-by-step: Monetisation.
What share does the platform keep?
Of net ad revenue (after payment fees and tax reserves), the published default is about 70% platform, 20% spaces/creators, and 10% Community Dividend. Full detail: Monetisation.
How is NaijaBook advertising different from typical social ads?
NaijaBook is spaces-first: ads are meant to sit beside conversations people already trust, not random noise. Formats favour sponsored posts, space partnerships, and local campaigns—not only generic display banners.
Is advertising expensive?
No — we want small businesses and local brands to try us. Wallet top-ups start from 50 in your billing currency, and spend is usage-based. See Advertise or top up from Earnings.
When can I withdraw real money?
When you reach Builder, your dividend balance clears the hold and minimum, your email is confirmed, and staff have verified your official ID. Track progress and request payout on Earnings. Path: Monetisation.
Who can advertise?
Registered businesses and verified partners. We screen categories that don’t fit community standards. Use the Advertise and Contact pages to talk to the team.
Is NaijaBook only for Nigeria?
Nigeria-first by culture and positioning, but reunion and diaspora are core—anyone who fits the community can participate where the product is available.
What are Naija, Africa, and Global spaces?
Spaces are tagged by reach: Naija-first communities, pan-African rooms, and intentionally global topics. You can filter by reach on Spaces and Discover so the big tent stays visible without losing local trust.
What is Discover vs Your network in the feed?
Discover shows a broader stream across NaijaBook so you can find new people, rooms, and topics. Your network focuses on posts from accounts you follow.
Can I set a profile picture?
Yes. On Your account you can upload JPEG, PNG, or WebP (up to 2 MB). If you sign in with Google (or another provider that shares a picture), we sync that photo automatically—unless you choose a custom upload, in which case yours wins until you remove it.
Which currency is the marketplace in?
Sellers choose from supported currencies; amounts are stored precisely in minor units (e.g. kobo, cents). Your profile country helps suggest a default—you are not locked to any one currency.
How do brands pay to advertise?
They pay NaijaBook—often via PayPal or Paystack wallet top-ups in the product, Stripe for some recurring packs when the platform account is live, or insertion orders and invoices for larger partners. A published share funds eligible creator and space pools after fees. Models and checklists are on the Monetisation page.
Where is the full written spec?
The full public write-up — including the step-by-step path to earn — is on Monetisation. The landing FAQ above stays short; that page is updated as the product evolves.
